How to take care of your fresh piercing: • Alway wash your hands before touching or cleaning it. • Use saline solution and cotton buds - these can be purchased in the shop or online. (Please do not try to make your own saline solution or use an alcohol based cleaner. It will make it sore and inflamed.) • First, clean the area around the piercing with tepid soapy water. (Best soap to use is none fragranced soap like dove or simple.) • Try not to get any of the soap in the piercing. (It is OK to shower however you will still need to clean the piercing after) • Dip the cotton bud in the saline solution and gently clean away any soap and crust that is on the area and jewellery on both sides. • You will need to do this twice a day, best after washing. • Please do not twist the jewellery this will only irritate the piercing and will take longer to heal. • Use quality jewellery to prevent irritation. • Best jewellery to use in a piercing is internally threaded titanium. YOU WILL NEED TO CLEAN YOUR PIERCING TWICE A DAY FOR THE LIFE OF IT. A piercing can take anywhere from 8 to 12 weeks to heal, even longer depending on the health of the person. Swimming will irritate the piercing especially when not healed so best to clean after with saline.
